As an ardent supporter of job-oriented vocational education for the youth, Shashi Bhushan has established Vastu Kala Academy (College of Architecture) in Delhi for B.Arch. degree course started in 1996. The Research and Development centre set up at Vastu Kala Academy provides valuable services to the community at various levels, including development, planning, tourism, restoration and renovation of monuments of cultural heritage as also planning and designing cultural, religious, tourists and freedom movement circuits in the country.

Rajiv Gandhi Computer Saksharta Mission : In order to provide vocational training and education. To enable the youth of weaker sections to generate self-employment, Shashi Bhushan started “Rajiv Gandhi Computer Saksharta Mission” (RGCSM). It is running 1,500 Computer Centres in India to impart basic information to spread literacy and quality knowledge at an affordable fee and a nominal cost of study material. So far, more than 1,50,000 trainees have been benefitted through this initiative.

Asian Solidarity for Peace :Shashi Bhushan was the convenor of the Asian Buddhist Conference for Peace held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi in 1974. It was for the first time that heads of Buddhist communities of Asian and Far Eastern countries met together at one place. It was attended by Buddhist leaders from 14 Asian countries to disseminate the teachings of Lord Buddha on peace, amity and compassion. The conference was inaugurated by Shri Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed, then President of India, and attended by prominent Buddhist leaders including The Dalai Lama, Ven. Gombojav of Mongolia, Ven. Gomboyev of Buriyat Republic of USSR and Ven. Kushok Bakula of Ladakh.
